The Avenue: Issue Five

The fifth issue of The Avenue was released on June 30, 1996. Actually it was released a week late, but that delay was needed to gain access to artwork for the new album. Contents included:

Current News:

The new album is coming and Alan tells all about it. While the tour dates were not ready for announcement, Alan did tell who would be coming out on the road. Avenue readers were also the first to see the artwork for the new album called "On Air".

World Liberty Concert (Part Two):

This conclusion of this article looks back at the May 8, 1995 event. We take a look back at the players and the songs the performed, as well as the effects and special performances. Alan also talks about the issue of using pre-recorded material.

Of Note:

In this issue, the "Of Note:" section looks at career updates on: David Pack, Keats, Chris Thompson, Eric Woolfson, Al Stewart and... The Simpsons!?

Ian Bairnson interview (Part Two):

In this, the second and final part, Ian talks about the move from Pilot to his work as a session artist. Other artists Ian worked with include Jon Anderson and Bucks Fizz. We also take a look at the Keats album, and his work with APP. Ian also talks about guitar playing, other projects he's worked on, and his hobbies.

Tales Of...:

Part five of this section takes a bit of a break from the usual style. Being the 20th anniversary of "Tales of Mystery and Imagination", Alan takes a look back at the first album. Readers were also invited to share their feelings about that famous record. In this issue, we run two of those stories.

"Let's Talk About...":

The question and answer section looks at four "Tales" related questions including:

bullet What are the words Orson Welles says on "Tales"?

bullet What text do the Poe quotes come from that Orson Welles narrates on "Tales"?

bullet Why didn't the Orson Welles narration get used on the original version of "Tales"?

bullet Was the show at "The Griffith Park Observatory" a live performance?

Contest prizes in this issue include: the "Sound Check" CD, compliments of Mobile Fidelity, Ian Bairnson's baseball cap and more items autographed by Alan Parsons!

This, and much more is happening in Issue Five of The Avenue!
