The Avenue: Issue Six

The sixth issue of The Avenue was released on October 31, 1996. Actually it was released a couple of weeks late, but that delay was caused by the busy schedule of our favourite musicians. Contents included:

Current News:

With the new album out, we look back at some of the trials and tribulations of getting it released. Also a quick mention of the tour and this year's personnel.

On Air:

This article acts as a "song by song" guide to the "On Air" album. Learn what the inspirations for the music was, the stories behind the recordings and even some alternate titles for songs.

Of Note:

In this issue, the "Of Note:" section looks at career updates on: David Paton, Keats, and Ambrosia. This was also the beginning of a "tips and tricks" segment to help readers with the CD-ROM.

Lenny Zakatek interview (Part One of Two):

In this, the first part, we look at Lenny's life from birth and early influences. From there we move on to look at his solo career, his first days with The Project and also a look at other projects you may have never heard of.

Tales Of...:

Part six of this section is a little shorter than normal, but no less exciting. After looking at Alan's early work with Ambrosia, we take a look back at some of the players on "Tales of Mystery and Imagination" and ask the question, "where are they now?".

"Let's Talk About...":

The question and answer section looks at lyrics and song details.

bullet What is said in the middle of "Hawkere" on "Vulture Culture"?

bullet What are the words spoken at the 4 minute mark on "Turn It Up"?

bullet Did you write any lyrics for the "Try Anything Once" album?

bullet What is your opinion on cover versions of your songs?

bullet Who thought of using Frankie Howard for "Sects Therapy" and was it easy to track him down?

bullet Who wrote the words in "Oh Life", Alan or David Pack? Is the song based upon something in particular?

Contest prizes in this issue include: a surprise from Lenny Zakatek and more items autographed by Alan Parsons!

This, and much more is happening in Issue Six of The Avenue!
